3/24/25 BMS Newsbytes: News, Updates, Celebrations and More!!

Dear Bernheim Community,

Exciting things are happening at BMS this week! Students and teachers are diving into hands-on projects, from exploring sustainability in our science classes to creative storytelling in ELA. Our hallways are buzzing with innovation, collaboration, and a shared passion for learning. Plus, we’re celebrating the incredible work being done to build a strong school community—whether through service projects, student-led initiatives, or special events that bring us together. Stay tuned for highlights, and be sure to check out the amazing work happening all around BMS!

Next week, our students will be completing important assessments. On Thursday, our Bears  and Grizzlies  will take the PSAT and our Cubs will complete the Star Assessment and a KSA-style scrimmage. Bears and Grizzlies will also take the Star Assessment in their classes throughout next week. To ensure a smooth testing experience, students must bring their Chromebooks and chargers to school each day. On Wednesday, all students will return to their advisories to plug in their Chromebooks, which will remain at school overnight. Please make sure students have brought their chargers. Thank you for your support!

COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE

Join the Challenge: Non-Perishable Food Drive

Where: Turnaround Resource Center & Bernheim Middle School

Get ready to shoot for a cause! This March, it's time to dunk your way to making a difference! The Turnaround Center is teaming up with BMS for our "Slam the Cans" non-perishable food drive.

How It Works:

Bring in non-perishable foods and canned goods to score points for your team(advisory).

Each can gets you closer to the prize—help your team win the challenge!

Exciting Prizes:

Participate to win fun gifts and school spirit rewards!

Let’s show our community the strength of teamwork!

Together, we can slam those cans and make a big impact on those in need.

Don’t miss out on the fun and the chance to give back!

END OF YEAR ACTIVITIES

End-of-Year Field Trip & Activities – Important Eligibility Information

All three houses have exciting field trips planned for the last day of school, along with many other fun activities! Our goal is for every student to participate, but they must meet the following eligibility requirements:

✅ Follow The Bruin Way (avoid behavior events)
✅ Complete their student portfolio
✅ Be passing all classes

Unfortunately, if a field trip is already paid for and a student loses their privilege to attend, we cannot issue refunds. The vendors require payment in advance and do not refund the school.

Our expectation is that all students will remain eligible and enjoy these events!

Behavior Contracts – Final Reminder

Students were required to submit a Behavior Contract for End-of-Year Activities. These were due last week, but we are offering an extended grace period for any last-minute submissions.

🔗 Behavior Contracts:

Cubs

Bears

Grizzlies

If you haven’t signed and returned this form, please print, sign, and have your student submit it as soon as possible

This weekend, the team is back in action, hosting a 3D tournament at Bernheim. Best of luck to all our archers!

⚾ Baseball

The baseball season is officially underway! The team faced Hebron in their season opener, and after shaking off a tough start, they played strong but came up just short. They’ll have another shot at their first win this Tuesday, March 25, as they take on Eastside at the Mt. Washington Sports Complex—game time is 6:00 PM. Come out and support the team!

⚽ Boys’ Soccer

It’s game time! Our boys’ soccer team kicks off their season this Tuesday, hosting TK Stone, followed by a road game at Bethlehem on Thursday. Both matches start at 6:00 PM. Best of luck, gentlemen—let’s start the season strong!

⚽ Girls’ Soccer

Our girls’ soccer team has been putting in the work, and now it’s time to shine! Their first match is Monday, March 24, on the road against TK Stone in Hardin County, followed by a home game against Bethlehem on Wednesday. Both games start at 6:00 PM. We can’t wait to see their hard work and conditioning pay off on the field!

🥎 Softball

The softball season is in full swing! The girls battled through two tough games last week, and while the wins didn’t come, the progress is clear. Keep pushing forward, ladies! They’ll be back on the field Wednesday at 6:00 PM against Eastside at the Mt. Washington Sports Complex. Let’s cheer them on!
