11/8/23-11/10/23 BMS Newsbytes: News, Updates and Celebrations!

Dear Bernheim Community,

Bruin Nation has had a great week.  Not So Scary Halloween was fantastic, students did a great job dressing up, and were so well behaved! Students have been working hard this week and we are so proud of all the wonderful work they are doing. Students have been busy with great learning experiences all over the school in which they are practicing math by designing a food truck business, creating museums about ancient innovations to present to other grade levels, learning effective discourse skills, and planning water scarcity fundraisers for communities across the globe.

ACCOUNTABILITY AT A GLANCE

This week the Kentucky Department of Education released the scores from last spring.  Attached you will find a simplified version of that information.  BMS has many things to celebrate and of course there's room for growth.  We were ranked “Green '' on the indicator for Science, Social Studies and Writing as well as the Quality of School Climate.  In Reading and Math we were ranked “Yellow” for an overall ranking of “Yellow”.  We were again identified as a TSI school as a result of an achievement gap between general education students and students with disabilities.

We are proud of BMS students and staffulty for all their hard work. We showed growth in several areas.  We will continue to work hard to create a legacy of excellence for all BMS students. Thank you for your continued support and belief in your students and staff of Bernheim Middle School.

FRIENDSGIVING DANCE

We look forward to the Friendsgiving Dance on November 17th.  $5 entry fee, must be passing all classes and free of major behavior events.   We hope to see all students there!

BMS  has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation.  Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way.  Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others,  participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

 Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @henryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
