May 6- May 10: BMS Newsbytes : Promotion Information, 8th Grade Dance information, Spirit Week and More!

  Dear Bernheim Community,

Thank you to all the students who did a great job showing up and staying focused so they could show what they have learned on the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA). Thank you to parents for making sure they were here and thanks to our students for always showing such excellent
work ethic! Our students are amazing and we love them!

It’s hard to believe our year is quickly coming to an end but we still have so many fun events to look forward to. We will soon have our annual Spring Ren Rally, House Day, and field trips. Students need to keep working hard and following the Bruin Way! Be sure to see below for information about the 8th Grade Dance & Promotion!

GRIZZLIES WRAPPING UP MIDDLE SCHOOL

Besides the end of year Ren Rally, Field Trips, and regular end of year activities the 8th grade Grizzlies will have a special dance.  The 8th Grade Dance is May 11th, 2024  from 6:30-9:00 pm  8th Grade Dance

Tickets will be on sale at LUNCH this week (May 6-10) and will cost $10. Students must be eligible to attend.

The dance is Saturday May 11th from 6:30-9:00 PM at BMS.

PLEASE SEE THE DRESS CODE FOR 8TH GRADE EVENTS

8th Grade Dance & Promotion Dress Code Guideline

8th Grade Promotion

The promotion ceremony is May 16th at 6:00 PM in the gym at Bullitt Central High School. Students must dress their best and follow the dance/celebration dress code guidelines.  The best side of the gym to sit on will be the side opposite the weight room. Chairs will be facing the main sections of bleachers. Seating is first come first serve. This seating change is due to how BCHS seniors will be seated for their own graduation. It is very kind of BC to allow us to use their facility and we are grateful. Thank you for your understanding.

We are so excited to share this day with you and your student. We know the promotion class of 2024 (graduating class of 2028) are going to do amazing things in their future. We love these students!

 TRANSPORTATION CHANGES??

If you need to make a change to transportation during the day, call the school prior to 2:30 pm and then send in a transportation change note to Ms Jennifer Vittitoe jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

This month is MENTAL HEALTH awareness month. We serve your students daily and love them dearly.  There are a few simple things you can do as a family that research claims helps to keep kids on track with their mental health.  They are so simple and in this fast paced life sometimes we forget the little things.  Studies show families who eat dinner at least twice a week around the dinner table are better able to meet children's mental health needs.  Another simple way to help support your students mental health is simply to talk to them about whatever it is they want to talk about. Lastly, encourage them to challenge negative thinking.  Middle school in particular is a hard time for children, everything is changing.  Sometimes they travel down the path of negative self-talk, or fixate on the negative, we have to intentionally help them flip that script and  see the good.   As we take a minute to bring awareness to Mental Health, please know BMS is here to support families.

Let us know how we can serve your students and your family.  Contact me  at amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

We love our students and we love our teachers too! Thank you to the PTSA, Calhoun Construction, Journey Church, and Southeast Christian for supporting Bernheim Middle School Teachers and Staff and helping us Celebrate.  Thank you to the parents who trust us with your students each day, we do this every single day because we truly love your children.  We want to extend our gratitude to the best staffulty around. Our teachers are dedicated to improving outcomes for all learners and ensuring that every single BMS student is seen, heard, and loved every day. Their excellence in the classroom is leaving a legacy for generations to come. Thank you!

We are inviting families to help " stock the lounge" with teacher treats. It doesn't take much to make an educator feel appreciated! A kind note, a bag of chips or a candy bar speaks volumes! Thank you to you if you are able to support the BMS staffulty in this way, and if you are not able, just a kind thought this week for teacher appreciation week would be wonderful! Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your students daily!

To help celebrate our wonderful teachers we encourage our students to participate in this week’s Spirit Week.

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @henryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
