Gearing Up for School 2019-2020

Dear Bruin Nation,

The start of school is right around the corner and we are excited to have the Bruins back
in the House!

BMS 6th grade students have four opportunities to attend 6th grade orientation.
This is an optional event for students and is intended to help students make connections
and become familiar with BMS.  We hope your student can attend one of the sessions! It is for students only, parents
can drop them off or send them with a friend.  If a student is able to come to one session they do not need to
attend any of the other sessions. (They are all the same) It is a fun couple of hours and will help ease some pre-middle
school anxiety. The dates and times for 6th grade orientation are: July 18th or July 24th.
Session times are 9:00am-11:00 am or 1:00 pm-3:00 pm.  No need to sign up, simply come at
the time that works for you and drop your student off and we will be ready for them!

Besides 6th grade orientation we also have a couple other events planned to help families transition back to
school.  On July 30th between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm staff will be visiting the homes of incoming 6th grade
students as well as any new 7th or 8th grade student to the building.  We hope you will be home so we
can say hello to you and your child and help the students make some great connections with teachers
and staff prior to the start of the year.

July 30th will also be the BMS annual Back to School Night.  We will be open from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm.  Students can see old friends, their new classrooms and meet teachers.  7th and 8th grade students will be able to complete the Chromebook Roll-Out process (forms/fees/pickup) 6th grade students will be able to complete forms/fees but will be given their Chromebooks after school starts.  6th grade teachers will be able to help students log in for the first time and get them started during school!  We are so excited to have the opportunity to work with your student this year and can't wait to see everyone!
If by chance you are unable to attend Back to School Night on July 30th there are no worries. We will have a Chromebook Roll-out for students after school starts.

Ms. Harrison will be happy to answer any Chromebook related questions you may have. (jennifer.harrison@bullitt.kyschools.us)
