Welcome to 2023-2024 Back to School Information! We can't wait to see you!!

 Welcome to 2023-2024!!!

Dear Bernheim Community,

We are so excited to start the new year with you.  Bernheim Middle School is celebrating its 30th year of serving the community.  We are going to celebrate in a BIG way! BMS is undergoing a major renovation that should be completed in the fall of 2025.  We are adding state of the art learning spaces, outdoor learning spaces to be engineered by some of the same folks who designed Bernheim Forest and the campus is going to be absolutely stunning.  It is going to take some patience and vision for the next couple of years but we can’t wait.   Some construction news includes all students will be entering and exiting the building from the front doors.  The bus rider and car rider lines remain as they were last year,(cars driving around the loop in the front parking area, buses passing through and dropping off in the side lot)  but our bus rider kiddos will have to walk a bit further for now to get to the front door.

First day of school is August 9th.

Students are usually nervous about the first day of school at BMS. But not to worry, at BMS we work very hard to make the first day of school fun and help students feel safe and secure.  Students will come into school and be directed to either the cafe or the gym, depending on if they are eating breakfast or not.  Teachers will join all students in the gym and we will welcome students to their advisory class.  6th grade students will have extra support and help making the transition.

CUBS CAMP 2023

Here is one last plug for Cubs Camp! Come get to know your new school! BMS would love to have your 6th grader join us for Bruin Cub Camp  July 31st.  There are TWO sessions on July 31st.  The morning session is from 9:00am-11:00am, the afternoon session is from 1:00pm-3:00pm.  Students come to ONE session only, as each session is the same.  Again only one session is needed.

Parents will drop students off and then pick them back up afterwards.  Students will see the school, practice lockers, make new friends and get to know each other. We know the jump from elementary school to middle school is a big one and we want to help students have a smooth start!  Come check it out!

ONLINE REGISTRATION~

Don't forget to update and register online! We still have MANY families needing to complete the process! Please visit the BCPS Registration page.

COMMUNICATION FROM THE DISTRICT

Go to your apps store and download the new Bullitt County Schools App.  The district has changed how important messages will go out.  Please do this as soon as you are able and click on the schools your children go to for notifications.

Back to School Night:

Mark your calendars for August 3rd from 5:30-7:00.  Students may come and see their teachers, check out classrooms, pick-up schedules and see the school.  You may drop off 6th grade physicals and immunization records that evening. We will also have tables set up to pay school fees with cash, checks or money orders (no cards please). Parents may pay those fees online @ MySchoolBucks

Coaches and sponsors will have displays highlighting their activities in the cafe. We are so excited to get the school year started and can’t wait to meet each one of you! We look forward to seeing you on August 3rd!

CHROMEBOOK INFORMATION

All students will need a device for school, BCPS leases Chromebooks at a cost of $35 per school year per student.  Most students take this option.  Some students choose to have their own device however; they will need to complete the district Acceptable Use Policy for use of the internet etc.

Students who will be 7th and 8th graders and were BMS students last year will get their devices during Advisory in the first days of school  once all technology forms and fees are completed. Remember these fees are  paid each and the forms are completed each year.  Please see district policy for details.

Incoming 6th grade students will receive their brand new chromebooks after all appropriate paperwork is completed within the first week or so of school.  Please feel free to call the school with any questions you may have.
