Thanks for another incredible week in Bruin Nation! Midterms went home with students today. We know students are working hard but as the quarter reaches this halfway point it’s crucial for students to be keeping up with their classwork and thinking about finishing strong. Our students across the grade levels have been highly engaged in various projects and activities this week that are helping them to become better collaborators, communicators, and problem solvers.
READING AND MATH ASSESSMENTS
The district sent out information regarding a new platform for benchmark assessments in reading and math. Last year we used the Mastery Connect platform, this year we will use Educational Leadership Solutions: Pathway to Proficiency (ELS). Students will be assessed three times throughout the year and we are looking to see growth in each student from the fall to the spring. This year's first assessment will be September 20th for reading and September 25th for math. We ask that your students are at school and ready to show where they are toward mastery of standards. This data is used for a variety of purposes including access to specific intervention classes as well as high school credit course work. Please encourage your students to do their best every day.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES??
YOU MUST call the school no later than 2:30 pm! The cut off time is crucial to help make sure your students are given the information prior to dismissal. If you need to make a change to transportation during the day, call the school prior to 2:30 pm and then send in a transportation change note to Ms Jennifer Vittitoe jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required. Due to overcrowding on some bus routes students will not be permitted to ride home with friends as a rule.PTSA
We look forward to working with our students’ parents throughout the year. If you are interested in joining the BMS PTSA please contact Mark Vibbert. Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.
COUNSELOR’S CORNER
Students received information about the Bullitt County Work Ethic Certification this week. A letter was given to students during their Advisory Class. You can find the letter linked here. If your student is interested in obtaining the Work Ethic Certificate for this school year, please complete and return the interest form to their Advisory Teacher.
As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others, participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!
We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class. The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school. Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected. Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We also have @henryclaytime on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
