9/25/23-9/29/23 BMS NEWBYTES: Celebrations, News and Updates!

 Dear Bernheim Community,

House Day is coming up! Please be sure to have signed and returned the field trip form by Monday. The field trip is 9/29/23.  All students are eligible to participate in HOUSE day and we want them there. This is an educational experience as students will be problem solving and creating ways to serve our local community. Students will go with their advisory to Camp Crooked Creek for part of the day on Friday 9/29 and work through problem solving, team building learning experiences while enjoying a beautiful fall day out in nature.  They will then come back to school and create a plan to serve our local community while using the BCPS Graduate Profile Competencies.   We are excited about this new learning opportunity for your students.   The field trip cost is $5.  In the event a family can’t pay the $5, please just make sure the form is signed and turned in.  During the day each House will have a mini House Celebration complete with Kona Ice courtesy Calhoun Construction.  We hope to have students here and ready to grow!

MONDAY MATH ASSESSMENT

Educational Leadership Solutions: Pathway to Proficiency (ELS) Assessment will be Monday 9-25-23.  Students will be assessed three times throughout the year and we are looking to see growth in each student from the fall to the spring.  This year's first math assessment will be  September 25th.

TRANSPORTATION CHANGES??

YOU MUST call the school no later than  2:30 pm! The cut off time is crucial to help make sure your students are given the information prior to dismissal.  If you need to make a change to transportation during the day, call the school prior to 2:30 pm and then send in a transportation change note to Ms Jennifer Vittitoe jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.  Due to overcrowding on some bus routes students will not be permitted to ride home with friends as a rule.

PTSA

We look forward to working with our students’ parents throughout the year.  If you are interested in joining the BMS PTSA please contact Mark Vibbert. Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Students will be part of a schoolwide HOUSE day on Friday 9/29/23.  This is an educational day focused on teamwork, service to the community and the Graduate Profile Competencies.  Students will take a field trip right down the road to Camp Crooked Creek and spend time back at school creating ways to support our local community.  Please make sure you have signed your students field trip form as we don’t want anyone not able to participate.

As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

BMS  has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation.  Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way.  Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others,  participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @henryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
