Dear Bernheim Community,
Students are working hard in Bruin Nation! We have had a couple of great weather days. Students get the chance to mix and mingle with friends on the great Bernheim “Walkabouts”. When student attendance is over 93% per house, and the weather is great we love to let them have a few moments in the great outdoors and every now and then they are joined by a puppy pal. Thank you for sharing your students with us, we love seeing the great things they do every day!
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES??
YOU MUST call the school no later than 2:30 pm.
The cut off time is crucial to help make sure your students are given the information prior to dismissal. If you
need to make a change to transportation during the day, call the school prior to 2:30 pm and then send in a transportation change note to Ms Jennifer Vittitoe jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required. Due to overcrowding on some bus routes students will not be permitted to ride home with friends as a rule.
BMS Community Service Project
The last day for collections for the Bullitt County Animal Shelter is Thursday, September 8th. We can’t wait to share with the Bullitt County Animal Shelter the wonderful things gathered. We are so proud of the care students have shown in their efforts to help support our community!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER
BMS will be having our annual Mental Health Awareness Day on September 12, 2023. This day is provided to students per State law KRS156.095 which requires schools to proactively address concerns of mental health, depression, and suicide. To meet this requirement, the district provides a lesson every school year to students in grades 6-12. Our goals are to encourage conversations about mental health, help students understand how to report concerns and identify the adults here at BMS they can go to with concerns about themselves, a friend or classmate.

BMS Athletics
ATHLETES : Please know that student athletes are held to a high standard. Their grades and conduct will be checked weekly. Students must be passing all classes to play for BMS as well be in good standing with their conduct. Girls Basketball- The girls continue to practice to get ready for the season and they are so excited. Their FIRST HOME game of the season is September 7th! Games start at 5:30 pm $5 at the gate.
We are looking forward to seeing the Lady Bruins be GAME ON for the 2023 season! Come out and support them in all your Bruin GEAR 9/7! #GoBruins!

Which House is Winning This week? BMS has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation. Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way. Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others, participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class. The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school. Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected. Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, X and Instagram. We also have @henryclaytime on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
