12/4/23-12/8/23 BMS Newsbytes: News, Updates and Celebrations!

Dear Bernheim Community,

It’s been an amazing week here in Bruin Nation! Our students have been hard at work on lots of awesome projects and learning experiences. Our 8th graders began thinking about their eventual transition to high school with a visit to Bullitt Central this week. It’s hard to believe we are already almost halfway through the school year. As December and the holiday season is upon us our school is taking an opportunity to engage our students in a school wide service learning project. This week our students launched our Community Contributor Food Drive to benefit the Lebanon Junction Turnaround Center. Students will be working with their advisory crews to promote this food drive while also earning House Points. Any donations of non-perishable food items can be sent in with your child through December 18th. We appreciate all of your support as our students learn about ways they can continue to give back and serve their local community!

Upcoming December Spirit Days

MIDYEAR ASSESSMENTS

Students will be assessed in Reading and Math in ELS Testing this week.  This assessment replaced the benchmark assessments the district used previously.  No matter what brand of assessment students take they need to do their absolute best.  This data determines their opportunity  for a variety of course work and classes and showing best effort on assessments will be used as part of their eligibility for the Bruin Bash on 12/19/23.  Students need to have their Chromebooks and chargers, and Chromebooks need to be charged when they get to school.  We can't wait to see how much students have grown!

STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

 Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @henryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
