2/13/24-2/16/24 : BMS Newsbytes: No School Monday! Check out BMS Newsbytes for Celebrations and Updates!

Dear Bernheim Community,

It has been a great week in Bruin Nation.  Students have been identifying and classifying rocks in the Cubs House, modeling the Law of Conservation of Mass in the Bears House, and thinking about having a positive impact on the environment in the Grizzly’s House! Students have done great work across Bruin Nation!

The Leadership team has begun meeting with each student in the Grizzly House.  We are reflecting on becoming Mastery Learners and setting goals for the rest of their Middle School career.  It is hard to believe that there are only  a few weeks left and then they will be off to new adventures.  Keeping focused and working hard will help all students finish strong!

This upcoming week is Kindness Week.  We promote kindness every day at BMS however we will have some extra kindness challenges this week for students.  This week is also Valentines Day, it's a perfect week to spread some extra love and cheer! The PTSA will be selling Valentine Grams at lunch for $1 and they will be delivered to students during 6th period Feb 14.

Archery -  The BMS archery team placed first in the middle school division again.  Individual medals were awarded for Boys 1st-5th (clean sweep!) and Girls 1st, 2nd and 5th.  The top two Girls tied so they had to  have a shoot off at practice to see who gets 1st and 2nd.  This was the 4th tournament in the River City 3D series where Bernheim leads the overall standings for team and the majority of the individual positions.  This weekend the 3D team participates in the 5th event in the series at Jeffersontown High School.

Baseball- The baseball season is right around the corner.  Tryouts will be February 15th.  The team is composed of 6th and 7th grade boys and all trying out must have a KHSAA physical on file to try out.  There is one more open workout this Tuesday February 13 from 5-6:30.

Cheerleading- Our cheerleading squad placed 1st in the advanced Junior High Division this past weekend and were runner up for Grand Champions!!  They received their highest score of the season!!  They have one more competition for the season.

Softball - Softball will hold a workout Tuesday after school from 3-4:30.  Ladies that come can leave their bags in the gym with Mr. Carnes. Weather permitting it looks like tryouts will be Thursday February 15th and Friday the 16th 4:30-6 at Bullitt Central.  Ladies will need a KHSAA physical on file to try out.

 Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @henryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog.
