Oct 15-Oct 19. BMS News, Updates, Info and Celebrations

Dear BMS Community,

We were excited to welcome students back from Fall Break this week.  Teachers started the week with professional development on Monday.  BMS teachers are dedicated to student success in every way.

Students were glad to be back and get into their routine.  We have students working very hard in every classroom.  We are starting a Reading competition between classes at BMS.  Please make sure your student has a book to read every day and they should be reading for at least 15 minutes every night.  So if they say they have no homework, please remind them to read for a minimum of 15 minutes!

We had a home game on Thursday and the Lady Bruins and the Bruin Cheerleaders did a fantastic job.  Come on out and support Bruin Nation! Every student that comes to a game earns HOUSE Points for their house!

Bernheim Cafe
We would like to give a big shout out to our Lunch Ladies and Food Service Manager Connie McDaniel.  She and the ladies are preparing food for students and asking for student input.  If kids like it then they are making more, if they don't then they are going back to the drawing board.  What a great way to let kids know they matter! Thank you Ms. McDaniel for being a Bruin and making the Bernheim Cafe a great place to enjoy a healthy and tasty meal!

BMS 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year
Thank you for all you do for BMS Students, Ms. Kimberly Newton!  Your ability to love students and encourage their inner spirit of creativity is appreciated not only by your current students buy by many of the artists you have grown over the years.  Thank you for having your own creative spirit and for being willing to work over above and beyond to help students be successful.  The world is full of more sparkle because of BMS's own Ms. Newton! So congratulations to Kimberly Newton the BMS 2018-2019 Teacher of the year.

Attendance Matters:
Cubs (6th) have been dominating the House Attendance competition however this past week both the Bears House  (7th) and the Grizzlies House (8th) have had winning days over 97% and 98%! All research shows students with high attendance perform better academically and have higher success rates in high school and college. Assist in your student's success by making sure they are at school!

Game Day! House Awards! Bruin Bash! Renaissance Rally! End of the year Awards! All of these include an attendance component and we sure want students to be eligible!! Our goal is to help ALL students be successful and the first step is to Be Here at school.  Please let us know how we can help make sure they are here!
