December 10-December 14, News, Updates and Celebrations

Dear BMS Community,
Students recently competed in the district STEM challenge.  All three grades designed a Mars lander and tested them to see if they could keep their astronauts safe.  It turns out that some of our students were still testing it on the same day that NASA was landing their new lander on Mars.  Students were very excited about the real world connection to the project they were working on.  The Cubs went to see A Christmas Carol at Actors Theatre and they were very impressed by the performance.

Our students and staff are so talented! As you visit BMS you will see a great deal of art work in one form or another. Come out Thursday evening, December 13th @ 7:00 pm to the Holiday concert put on by Mr. Shawn Webb and the band and choir students. They are so excited to share their talent with you. Keep being amazing Bruin Nation!

Renaissance Rally
We are excited to celebrate students with all A's, A/B's or perfect attendance (*must be free of major behavior events) with the Renaissance Rally. This will be a huge celebration with a school wide academic pep rally at the end of the day.  We will be doing this on December 19! Make sure you are coming to school and working hard. So you can participate in the Renaissance Rally.

Homework? YES!
Every student at BMS has the minimum homework of reading their novel they checked out from the Lyceum for at least 20 minutes each night.  If your student is a band student Mr. Webb has asked that each student practice their instrument anywhere from 15-30 minutes an evening. I have been doing an unofficial check of students who are bringing instruments to and from school and based on this unofficial check, we need to practice more.  We want our Band program to excel and for that to happen students need to practice at home.  So yes, all students have homework every night. Reading, Reading, Reading and band students have two things to do every night!  Keep working hard Bruin Nation! Be Bold in Excellent Work Ethic!
