April 29-May 2, Important Information!!! Student News and Updates!

Dear Bernheim Community,

We are so proud of all students at BMS, however an extra shout out goes to the BMS CEO's. These students have worked with their peers all year long on social emotional growth through a program called second step.   They have met once a week during their lunch time and are dedicated and committed to encouraging others in a positive way through empathy and compassion.  They have created a Kindness Campaign and are continuing to work on improving not only the school community but the community at large.  These students are going to change the world and we can't wait to see the great things they do!

SBDM AND PTSA NEWS
BMS SBDM Parent member Brance Gould is going off of SBDM because his son is moving on up to High School  We are grateful to Mr. Gould for three years of dedication to BMS through SBDM. He has been an advocate on the behalf of BMS and has been a active community supporter for our school.  Thank you Mr. Gould.

ELECTION TIME IS HERE: PTSA Officer ballots and SBDM Parent representative ballots will be will be in the front office.  Ms. Veatch has the ballots and will be taking care of the voting for us. Even though in both cases there are the exact number of people running as are required the election is a requirement and is an indicator of the strength of BMS parent involvement.  We have great parent involvement so please let's make sure that is known by our number of parent votes in both elections. BMS has a goal this year of having at least 50 parents vote in both elections.  Please click here for more information for Parent SBDM Candidates and voting details.   Ms. Veatch also has has the PTSA officer (linked) information and ballots- so please come and vote for both elections Mon-Thur of this week 8:00-3:00 pm

Please complete this year's
BMS Title 1 Grant provides each student the chance to have TWO separate Math classes as well as support students with Reading and Math Strategies classes.  Parents are notified of student progress with midterms and report cards as well as individual parent contacts as needed.  We appreciate our parents and hope that you will take the time to complete the survey, please complete as soon as possible.  If you have any questions please let me know.
STUDENT SHOWCASE

We are so excited to share your student's work with you! On May 2 from 5:30-7:00 we are going to have our 2nd Annual Student Showcase.(Title 1 Night)  There will be dinner, an Art Show, music presentations along with students sharing their success with their parent! Students will be working with their Fourth Period Mentor teachers as they share with you their BMS success journey.  Please plan to come, enjoy a meal with your student and spend some time here at BMS to see the great things your student is doing!

With the end of the year upon us we have so much to do and so little time to do it in.  Please pay close attention to the Dates To Remember listed below.  State testing is coming up beginning May 9th, please make every attempt to avoid appointments, between May 9 and May 15.   We know BMS students are going to do fantastic, but we want them to have the best testing environment possible.

Attendance Matters:
Attendance Matters:
These Lovely Ladies Love seeing students EVERY DAY!
Be Here! Show Up! It matters! Here in Bruin Nation we are instilling in students the importance of having excellent work ethic. Research evidence states that students who are chronically absent fall several grade levels behind causing them to play "catch up" for years.  BMS believes each student can be successful, we strive daily to support each student.  Each day missed is a day a student falls behind. On top of academic success we have fun incentives for attendance; Game Day, Walkabouts , Sit Anywhere Days and more.  Attendance is part of the Work Ethic Certification program and is something the R.O.C. and BAMS program look at to determine admission so, show up, be here, it matters.
