News, Updates and Student Celebrations for the week of Sept 4th. Have a Great Labor Day Weekend!

Dear Bernheim Community,
We want to take a moment to thank Mrs. Karen Smith for her years of service to Bernheim students and their families.  Ms. Smith is retiring as of August 30th as counselor of Bernheim Middle School.  We will miss her terribly, we wish her happiness and joy in her retirement.

Mrs. Amy Bush will be the new counselor for Bernheim Middle school.  She has been working here as instructional coach for the past four years.  She is excited to take on her new role as counselor.  If you need anything in the way of counseling please contact Ms. Bush via school email or call the school.

Everything we do matters in one way or another. We truly believe in our mission statement; Every Student, Every Day and our vision of Creating a Legacy of Excellence.  We know that the resulting outcome of student success will impact the world as we know it.  BMS students are truly amazing. At BMS students know and live by The Bruin Way.  Ask your student about it. It's how we live.

The first Bruin Bash of the year was Friday. Thank you Ms. Newton and all the staffulty for making it happen. Students played games, did Karaoke, played basketball, made origami and had time to be a kid.  75% of our school was eligible to participate. That means those students were passing all classes, free of unexcused absences and had followed the Bruin Way as evidenced by lack of discipline issue. If students were ineligible this time and they were absent they are automatically ineligible next time. We would love to see 100% of our students eligible for this celebration and reward. The next Bruin Bash is September 27th.

Please follow the link to the BMS Class Highlights. (linked) You may also check out teachers individual websites which are linked to the Bernheim Middle School website and on BMS Class Highlights. (log on page linked) We are here to support your student and family in any way we can, please feel free to reach out.

As always we are always happy to help in any way we can. There are so many ways to keep up with what is going on at BMS.  BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, please favorite this website. BMS Class Highlights is each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher websites which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your student.
#BernheimStrong Go Bruins!
