Aug 26-Aug 30 News Updates, Student Celebrations and Information

Dear Bernheim Community,

The second full week of school has been fantastic! Congratulations to the 19-20 Girls Basketball team and 19-20 BMS Cheerleaders! It is going to be a great season!

BMS House Competition is on! Students have been working hard every day and we are excited to see how much they will grow this year! Everything students do counts in one way or another, from earning Proficient/Distinguished on KPREP to cleaning up after themselves in the Cafe, or simply being kind.

Everything we do matters in one way or another! We truly believe in our mission of Every Student, Every Day and the vision, Creating a Legacy of Excellence.  Students live by the motto, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Here and Be Bold in Kindness, Courage and Excellent Work Ethic.

Reminders:

READING competition has BEGUN! Each 4th period class has begun Drop Everything and Read time! Please do check in with your student and see that they have a book and are reading! We look forward to celebrating with them!
EVERY WEDNESDAY IS
College/Career Gear Day! Wear your College Gear (or Career) and your House Earns Points- Thank you to Georgetown, WKU, Sullivan and EKUMiami of Ohio, University of Alabama and Bellarmine for sending College Gear.

BRUIN BASH

BRUIN BASH This Friday! Aug 30 -- What is Bruin Bash? Students have a period at the end of they day to participate in fun hands on activities with friends.  There is usually Kona Ice, sometimes popcorn and is generally time to be a kid.  Students must be PASSING all classes, Must have been following the Bruin Way (free of behavior events) and have all notes turned in for absences.

If they are not at school on a Bruin Bash day and they are also ineligible to participate for Bruin Bash, unfortunately they are precluded from the next Bruin Bash as well.  So please do make sure your student is at school even in the event they don't get to participate.  If they don't get to participate they will be working with a teacher to get caught up or working on school work to gain mastery of content in one way or another.  We hope to have all students participate, 100% participation is the goal!
PTSA Membership
THE BMS PTSA NEEDS parents to be active in their child's school experience.  Even if all you can do is Join the PTSA, every person matters, by your participation in BMS PTSA you help create the best learning environment possible for Every Student, Every Day.  One goal for PTSA is increased membership.  You don't have to do anything special, just join and support your student.  If you are interested in helping that is great but if not we would simply love to have you as a member.   Right now we have 22 members, we would raise membership to 100 members prior to September 30th.

Attached below is the PTSA Membership form.  Please contact Angela Harper with questions or ideas to support BMS students and staff.  We love our community and are excited for a great year!

MEMBERSHIP FORM- Print out, complete and send with $5 to the front office with your student.

It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you
