December 9-13, News Updates and Celebrations! Check it Out!

Dear Bernheim Community,
It has been a very busy week in Bruin Nation and there is no sign of it slowing down! Please keep up with your student through Parent Portal and connect with teachers if you have any questions!  We are so proud of all the great work we see them do. Keep asking them about the books they are reading! Each student should be reading a book at all times! We have had several reading celebrations and have more yet to come!

Check out the photos of the students being GAME ON this week!

Please note the week before Christmas break is especially critical as we have district-wide testing for elementary and middle schools. It is extremely important that students are here for this assessment and that they take it very seriously.   This assessment indicates their opportunities now and in the future! It does count toward their overall grade as well.  Please watch for more news and updates as those dates get closer.

It is also the week before Christmas Break and we do have some fun dress up days planned- we ask that you talk to your child and explain- you can be celebrating and working hard all in the same moment-- so even though we are encourage school spirit and holiday spirit - we are asking that students work hard when they are supposed to work.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

'BE THE "I" IN KIND'-Student Advisory Class Updates
All students have an Advisory teacher whom they meet with twice a week, the purpose is to help gain life skills and focus on how to be college/career ready beyond academics.  Each teacher is connecting with students and helping them process life in the 21st century.  Thank you for sharing your students with us and please let us know how we can serve them better!

Updates: Ms. Johnson's' advisory class created a bulletin board for the school- Be the "I" in Kind, Ms. Watkins advisory students wrote personal "you are a star" notes to students to build them up and encourage them in specific ways.  Ms. Cravens advisory is creating Kindness Rocks, Mr. Cravens/Webb advisory has helped lead and advertise the toy drive for Skylar's Kids. Ms. Newtons/Elliott/Jenkins advisory produced two district winners for the Red Ribbon essay competition on reducing bullying and being safe. The BMS C.E.O's have worked for more than a year to help teach students all about social emotional learning  and skills to help kids be successful beyond the academics in this world. They have served as an advisory group to school leadership and have helped institute programs to create a great learning environment and are the student leaders for the Renaissance Committee.  The school Renaissance Committee (C3)works to institute a positive culture, climate and atmosphere of student celebrations and collaboration among staffulty and students alike.

This is all shared with you so you can see just a FEW of the great things happening at BMS! We truly believe that each and every student is valuable and important, we seek to serve them everyday and help them CREATE A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE. --

As always we are always happy to help in any way we can. There are so many ways to keep up with what is going on at BMS.  BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, please favorite this website. BMS Class Highlights is each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher websites which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your student.
