February 8th-12th: Information, News and Updates-

Dear Bernheim Community,

We are so glad to have the Bruins back in the House! It has been a wonderful first couple of weeks.  Students are readjusting to the schedule, most of them have taken part or all of the CASE assessment.  Students are using masks, social distancing and hand sanitizing and making it part of their everyday school life.  It has been a wonderful experience with students back in the building.  We can't believe it is almost a year since we embarked on this journey and finally we feel we are in the home stretch!

Please remind your student that on their at home learning days they need to log in and complete their assignments. Many teachers are utilizing a flipped classroom meaning students engage in the background information through google classroom on their at home days and are diving in on their in person days.  Please encourage your students to jump into their at home learning and be game on!  If there are questions each teacher has Help Desk time and is available via email or GoGuardian.  So many students are doing a fantastic job, there are others who really need to step it up.  Please be checking their Infinite Campus grades regularly check on their progress.

Academic Success (ESS)

Students who are behind or need extra assistance have the opportunity to stay after school on Monday or Friday for extra assistance.  (changed from Tue/Fri)  Ms. Brea Breeze and Ms. Sheila Kuykendall are helping students each and every week.  There is a virtual option as well so BCA students and @home learners still have access to the extra help.  Please contact Ms. Brea Breeze brea.breeze@bullitt.kyschools and/or Ms. Sheila Kuykendall sheila.kuykendall@bullitt.kyschools.us about getting your student signed up, or verifying their placement.   Awesome Students (A-day) will stay after school on Mondays and Brilliant Students (B-day) will stay after school on Fridays.  There are limited spots so please make sure you have communicated with Ms. Breeze and/or Ms. Kuykendall to confirm placement.

Hybrid Schedule

Thank you for your help and support through this journey, we know on the other side of the pandemic students are going to be even better at being self-directed navigators!  We have noticed that some students aren't completing their @home assignments or learning tasks like they need to be. This is causing students to be behind on their in person learning days.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE help your student get organized on the @home learning days so that when they come in person they are ready to be game on! We look forward to the time when students are in person 5 days a week.  In the meantime, students need to take advantage of the time they have at home to work in their google classrooms!

HYBRID SCHEDULE HELP DESK

What if There is a Remote Learning SNOW DAY?
We had a change of plans regarding remote learning snow days.
REMINDER:
If your child has an illness with any Covid-19 Symptoms please complete the student protocol form linked here.  Please call the school and let Ms. Veatch know if your child is ill for any reason.

ATTENDANCE:
Students do need to be here on the days the are scheduled for, if they are not here it is an absence. Students need to be in their classroom by 8:00 am, or they are considered tardy.  This is the same as it has been in years past.  Students must be on their chromebooks doing their school work on the days they are at home as well.  The school day begins at 8:00 am, please make sure students are up and going even if they are in the BCA or on their @ home days.

BCPS Calendar
Below is the most recent calendar from BCPS.  You will notice this only takes us through the end of the THIRD nine weeks.  If we have learned anything from living through a pandemic it is that things change.

Bullitt Cloud Academy
Thank you to all BCA students who are showing up and showing excellent work ethic!  Students who are part of BCA need to be in their zoom classes on the appropriate day and time.  As of right now we have some students who are doing a fantastic job, however we have some who are struggling. Participation, grades and progress are all determining factors in their success for the year. Some are looking at being on the honor roll, some are looking at a lot of hard work just to catch up, the possibility of summer school or even being retained! Please check IC to see the progress of your student!

The class meeting schedule is below.
Please reach out to your students teachers if you have any questions.

BMS has incorporated a new program to support students' social emotional growth and learning.  Each week in advisory mentor teachers work with students through many different topics.  They are also there to connect with students and help them in any way they need.  Each week as part of the Character Strong program there is a character dare for students to work through and work on each day.  During Wednesday Advisory students meet with their mentor teachers and talk about the past weeks challenge and discuss the next weeks challenge. For example this past week's students were asked to focus on WHO do they want to BE as opposed to WHAT do they want to be? Many students were able to communicate they want to be people who never give up, are kind, serve others, are determined, are generous, are giving, etc.  These are attributes that students can work toward in their daily life.  Please feel free to check out the program at characterstrong.org.  Students also work through a program called Naviance that is focused directly on College and Career growth activities.  We are working on helping students grow in all areas and we are so proud of all they have accomplished even right through a pandemic!

As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

As always we are always happy to help in anyway
we can. There are so many ways to keep up with what is going on at BMS.
BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this website. BMS Class Highlights is each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher websites (also linked above) which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your student.
#BruinBold #GoBruins!
