May 17-May 24: News, Updates and Celebrations

Dear Bernheim Community,

Thank you for a great week in Bruin Nation! Thank you to all the parents, guardians and families who came to our Student Showcase/Student Led Conference night.  This was our spring Title 1 Family night and we had well over 130 members of Bruin Nation here! Students shared their Naviance Career Finder information with parents, as well as their goals for the rest of this year and next year.  Some of the highlights were students sharing what they are most proud of for the year. Check out FB for all the pictures!  Thank you so much!

THANK YOU TO BMS PARENTS FOR ALL YOU DO!

Michael and Crystal Tomlinson
Aiden, Angie, and Hannah Huffman
We want to send a special thank you and shout out to BMS SBDM outgoing parent members, Angie Huffman and Crystal Tomlinson.  Both of these wonderful ladies have supported BMS for the last three years. Both of their students will be at BCHS next year and we will miss them all.
Thank you to all who took part in the BMS SBDM Parent elections. Congratulations to Chris O'Brien and Kim Fentiman who are the incoming BMS SBDM members for 2021-2022.  We are looking forward to next year and all the great things that we will accomplish! Thank you for being willing to serve in this capacity!

We have KPREP testing Monday-Wednesday next week in one form or fashion.  Please make sure students are well rested and know that this data will be used to help determine their academic needs for the next year.  We ask that their Chromebooks are charged and ready to go next for next week.  Please make sure they bring those Chromebooks and chargers each day.   KPREP is a computer based test this year which is new and different for all.  This method of testing was in the works prior to Covid-19.  We are grateful BCPS is a one to one school district so each student has the tools they need demonstrate success!

Chromebooks?:

ANY STUDENT NOT RETURNING TO BMS NEXT YEAR MUST TURN IN CHROMEBOOKS TO THEIR 5TH PERIOD TEACHER MAY 28TH.  MAKE SURE THEIR CHARGERS ARE WITH THE CHROMEBOOKS.  ALL 8TH GRADE STUDENTS WILL BE TURNING IN CHROMEBOOKS AND CHARGERS.  THEY WILL RECEIVE NEW ONES UPON THEIR START OF HIGH SCHOOL.( IF THEY ARE IN A BCPS SCHOOL)

8th Grade Promotion

BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the
school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has al
l forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links
to individual teacher websites (also linked above) which are extremely useful to both students and parents. I
t is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your student.
