BMS Newsbytes: Jan 18-Jan 21, News, Updates, Celebrations and more!

 Dear Bernheim Community,

We want to take some time to celebrate all the great things your students are doing.  They are doing wonderful work in the classroom.  CASE scores are in and novice reduction in both reading and math was true across all grade levels.  Students are rocking it.  Not only are students rocking academically but Bruin Basketball has had a first. Both 7th grade AND 8th grade teams took the championship win and we are looking forward to the game Wednesday to see if we can make it three for three with our 6th grade team! Our Archery team continues to be right on target. (couldn’t resist) BMS Archery team took first place on January 8th with several students placing! BMS archery is world class and we are so proud of them!!!

NTI

We are so proud of our kiddos! They showed up and did what they were supposed to do.  We know we don’t want this to be the norm, no one does.  However on the days we do have to jump into NTI we are so proud of staff, students and families for jumping on and making it happen!  Way to go!

We did plan on seeing everyone back in the building Tuesday January 18th, however due to icy road condition the district is on NTI for Jan 18. Continue to pay attention to your BCPS messages for updates.

PTSA

There will be a special parent election for the SBDM Council. The PTSA is proctoring the election.  The ballot will be available at the front office on Wednesday January 19th 9:00 am- 3:00 pm.  Ms. Veatch or one of the ladies in the front office will be able to assist.

ATTENDANCE

It’s that time of year where there are many more cases of flu, strep and those “it’s just a virus” as well as continued cases of COVID.  Please be sure that if your child is out sick that you send in a parent note or a doctor note to excuse their absence.  Remember that state law only allows six parent notes a year.  If your child is exposed to COVID or has been diagnosed with it, please contact the school office or fill out the student protocol form to let us know.  They will happily help you complete the form as well.  (502)869-4000

BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class. The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher webpages which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
