School is IN Session 2/21/22! BMS Newsbytes, Celebrations, News and more.

 Dear Bernheim Community,

Bruin Nation has had another exciting week! We have had reading parties to celebrate student reading, BMS CEO’s had their leadership conference and the Annual UK/UL game happened.  Ask your student who the winner was!

MASKING UPDATE

We are excited to announce that COVID-19 cases within our schools have drastically reduced and we expect to see them continue to decrease. Based on the recommendation of our Local Medical Advisory Team, the widespread availability of COVID-19 vaccines, and updated scientific findings, the Bullitt County Board of Education has voted that our current masking decision matrix will expire on Tuesday evening. BCPS will move to a mask optional policy, based on personal and family choice, beginning Wednesday, February 23rd. This will allow us to use Monday and Tuesday to train our staff on updated Contact Tracing procedures before implementing these changes midweek.

The following Healthy At School protocols will remain in place:

  • Students will still be required to wear masks on all school-provided transportation and at the Area Technology Center (ATC), in compliance with the federal mandate that remains in place.

  • We will continue to follow CDC guidelines regarding masking requirements following the return to school or work for anyone who has been isolated or quarantined due to Covid-19.

  • Any symptomatic, unvaccinated student and all BCPS staff members that are COVID-19 positive or have been knowingly exposed to COVID-19, should complete the reporting protocols available at: bit.ly/bcps-covid-site

  • Contact tracing will remain in effect and families will now be able to track classroom/class period level data as well, using our online COVID-19 data dashboard available at: bit.ly/bcps-covid-data

    • Classroom cases will be linked to the school-level data chart in the bottom right corner, with positive cases being indicated by an "x." Simply click on your school's name to view classroom-level data.

    • Should there be three or more positive cases in a classroom/class period within a five day window, impacted students and families will receive direct communication from your school regarding quarantining and Test to Stay information.

  • Anyone who is showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, chills, new uncontrolled cough, difficulty breathing, congestion, runny nose, aches, loss of taste/smell, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, headache, etc.) should not report to work or school.

  • Should the data or medical guidance change, the superintendent is authorized to mandate masking as needed at the classroom, school, or district level.

  • With this change in mind, we encourage families to make whatever choice you feel is best for your child.  It is expected that everyone in our school will respect your choice and will expect the same respect for others’ choices. Any negative or harassing comments directed at anyone concerning their choice to wear or not wear a mask is unacceptable and will be addressed in an appropriate manner.

BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class. The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher webpages which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
