Welcome to BMS Newsbytes: News, Updates and Student Celebrations 8/10/2022-8/19/2022

Dear Bernheim Community,

Thank you for a fantastic start to the year! BMS Students are rocking it! BMS Staffulty pulled off the best first day ever! Students are working on knowing how to collaborate with one another and doing a great job! We started the year going back to the future and we can’t wait to see how bright their future will be!

ATTENDANCE:

Students need to be in their classroom by 8:00 am.  Doors open at 7:40am.  The school day begins at 8:00 am. Please contact Jenniver Vittitoe with attendance questions at jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us  or (502)869-4000.

TRANSPORTATION

Please keep up with the BCPS Transportation Facebook page (linked) as there has been a great deal of fluidity in the routes.  We have wonderful people driving our students to school, we simply don’t have enough of them.  Announcements and bus changes are posted regularly on their Facebook page.

Any transportation changes need to be in the front office by 2:30 pm! The cut off time is crucial to help make sure your students are given the information prior to dismissal.  If you need to make a change to transportation during the day, call the school prior to 2:30 pm and then send in a transportation change note to bmsiuser001@bullitt.kyschools.us ,  You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.

Due to overcrowding on some bus routes students will not be permitted to ride home with one another. If you have an emergency please follow the procedure described above.

We are working on making some major changes to how we do Car Riders to alleviate some of the traffic congestion on Audubon.  Keep your eyes out for news on that change!

FORMS and FEES

Please complete all first day paperwork and send that to school by Tuesday at the latest.  Advisory teachers are collecting forms and fees.  Once the forms and fees are collected Ms. Harrison will distribute lockers.  Again, we need all forms and fees taken care of before we can distribute lockers. Thank you for your help.  Fees are $35 Chromebook fee to be paid yearly and the $15 School Fee.  Fees may also be at myschoolbucks.com.

STUDENT HANDBOOK AND CODE OF CONDUCT

Each student received a BMS Agenda book.  The student handbook is a part of the agenda along with an organization tool for students to use.  Please go over the handbook with your students.

Students may bring their backpacks to school and they will keep them in their lockers, along with cell phones and large jackets.  BMS is a chewing gum free school, and students aren’t permitted to eat and drink in classrooms barring specific circumstances. Please stay on top of your child's social media accounts if you allow them to have them at all.  Social media can be great, but can also be very distracting and sometimes harmful.  We are here to help support your child and help them grow into successful adults.  Feel free to reach out!

PTSA

Please join the BMS PTSA! They such a huge support to students, staff and the community! PTSA will be selling spirit wear soon, so be on the lookout for those flyers and information!

Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Students' Advisory period is an important part of their day.  Students work through College and Career studies and Character Education connections with their mentor teachers. We are striving to help all students grow in all areas and we are so proud of what they have accomplished.

As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
