September 6th -9th: BMS Newsbytes. News, Updates and Student Celebrations.

 Dear Bernheim Community,

What a fantastic week here in Bruin Nation! Thank you to all the parents and families who drop off and pick up students.  It has been very smooth and we thank you for your help!

ATTENDANCE & TRANSPORTATION

Please contact Jennifer Vittitoe with attendance questions at jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us  or (502)869-4000. Please see the District Student Covid Information Linked Here

Any transportation changes need to be in the front office by 2:30 pm all late transportation notes must be sent to bmsiuser001@bullitt.kyschools.us

You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.

CAR RIDER & BUS RIDER Flip Updates!

Thank you to all the families who drop off and pick up their students. The flip of location between car rider and bus rider has been almost seamless. We have the added benefit of clearing Audubon quickly, thus relieving back up on 245.   In the morning when you pull up to the sidewalk your student is permitted to get out and walk up the sidewalk anywhere on the sidewalk.  Parents don’t have to pull all the way up to drop off.

In the afternoon it is a different story, we are loading cars 5 deep in two lanes, and students MUST WAIT for the cue to enter the lane.  We don’t want them going behind whoever is holding the orange umbrella. There are many moving parts in the afternoon, we want to make sure we have all kids safe.

Parents and families have been outstanding, thank you for being awesome!

Please keep up with the BCPS Transportation Facebook page (linked) as there has been a great deal of fluidity in the routes.  Announcements and bus changes are posted regularly on their Facebook page.

PTSA

PTSA is excited to announce they are going to be selling spirit wear very soon! Keep an eye out for the order form!

Please join the BMS PTSA! They are such a huge support to students, staff and the community! Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Tuesday, September 13th, 2022 will be our Mental Health Awareness Day Programming for students during Advisory/1st Period. Bullitt County Public Schools takes seriously the personal, social and physical safety of our students. In order to proactively address concerns of mental health, depression and child/adolescent suicide, the district provides a student depression awareness, mental health well-being, and suicide prevention lesson every school year in students grade 6-12.  The goal of the program is to talk to students about reporting any concerns to a trusted adult, develop positive conversations about mental health and well-being and increase awareness and educate students about depression in young adults.  This lesson opens the conversation and promotes students to seek help in their actions by talking to trusted adults when they are concerned about themselves or a friend. Our program goals are as follows:

  • To explain that suicide is a preventable tragedy that often occurs as a result of untreated depression.

  • To provide students training in how to identify serious depression and potential risk of suicide in a friend.

  • To impress upon students that they can help themselves or a friend by taking the simple step of talking to a responsible adult about their concern

For more information please see the attached letter linked here. The letter was also sent out via Infinite Campus Messenger on Friday afternoon September 2, 2022.  If you do not want your child to participate in the program please fill out the form linked here

*If you agree to the programming, you do not have to return/complete the form.*

As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
