BMS Newsbytes: 10/3/22-10/7/22| News, Updates and Celebrations- Check out all the info this week!

 Dear Bernheim Community,

This week students have been doing a great job working in their classes.  We had several students selected for the VIP Awards and were part of a wonderful ceremony this week.  We are so proud of the students at BMS.  They are not only smart and kind but are also hard workers and are dedicated to staying healthy.

DOES YOUR STUDENT NEED HELP?

BMS is starting ACADEMIC SUPPORT (after school ESS) this MONDAY.  We will have Academic Support regularly on Monday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30.  Amanda Korby is coordinating the program for us this year.  Please reach out to her at amanda.korby@bullitt.kyschools to request your student be signed up.  We are going to support students with general help  for all classes and will have a MATH Club after school as well.

Please contact us and let us know if you would like your student to be part of the Math Club.  Feel free to call the school at 502-869-4000 if you have any questions regarding Academic Support in general or Math Club.

BMS HAVING A GLOBAL IMPACT

THANK YOU! YOU DID IT!

YOU DID IT!  BMS students have raised $3797 for the Ugandan Water Project.  We are so proud of the BMS school community!  The Louisville Water Company will match our donation, which means instead of being able to support 500 families and children with clean drinking water in Uganda, we are now able to provide clean drinking water for 1000 families and children.  Thank you for being the difference in the world! The Uganda Water project communities will have that water system set up by April and we will provide updates throughout the process.  Thank again for your support.

We have kept the campaign open through the weekend. You can still donate.

Student Portfolios are underway! Students began working on a Portfolio they will use to document their progress throughout this year. At the end of the year BMS will host a Student Showcase where students will share these with their parents.

BMS ATHLETICS

Girls Basketball The Lady Bruins were in action this week against the Hebron Panthers and hosted the Eagles from Eastside.  Both the 6th and 7th grade teams showed improvement this week and our 8th grade team was able to stay undefeated.  Now sporting a record of 7-0…keep up the good work ladies!

Which House is Winning This week? BMS  has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation.  Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way.  Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others,  participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

READING PARTIES

So Proud of Mr. Hoben, Ms. Schell and Ms. Dabrowski’s Advisory Class for earning a READING PARTY! Keep it UP!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
