We are so proud of Bruin Nation! BMS CEO Student leaders are starting a Community Service Project.  Please help them support our local community.  All items are due 12/9/22 and will be delivered to the Turn Around Center.  Please check it out and help students support the local community.  If you would like to donate to the project please send the items in with your student or you may drop them off with Ms. Vittatoe in the front office.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

We wish your family a wonderful thanksgiving! We will return with BMS Newsbytes December 3rd. Enjoy your time with your family!

DOES YOUR STUDENT NEED HELP?

BMS is offering ACADEMIC SUPPORT (after school ESS) this MONDAY.  We will have Academic Support regularly on Monday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30.  Amanda Korby is coordinating the program for us this year.  Please reach out to her at amanda.korby@bullitt.kyschools to request your student be signed up.  We are going to support students with general help  for all classes and will have a MATH Club after school as well.

Please contact us and let us know if you would like your student to be part of the Math Club.  Feel free to call the school at 502-869-4000 if you have any questions regarding Academic Support in general or Math Club.

ATTENDANCE

The flu and a stomach virus seem to be running through BMS.  Please remind your students about simple hand washing, covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and please don’t eat or drink after each other.  Attendance the last two weeks has been pretty awful and we have been sending students home with fevers and other symptoms.   We appreciate your help and support. We sure want to keep all the Bruins healthy.

Please contact Jennifer Vittitoe with attendance questions at jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us  or (502)869-4000. Any transportation changes need to be in the front office by 2:30 pm all late transportation notes must be sent to bmsiuser001@bullitt.kyschools.us

You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.

PTSA

Thank you to BMS PTSA and Amanda Mohr for all you do for students, teachers and our parent community!  Our PTSA supported the Friendsgiving dance and served students in the concession stand! Students loved it and we are so appreciative of these wonderful parents!

Please join the BMS PTSA! They are such a huge support to students, staff and the community! Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

BMS ATHLETICS

Boys Basketball: The boys’ basketball team had a strong week of games at home.  Both the 7th and 8th grade teams won all 3 games this week and the 6th grade team is starting to show some big improvement.  Great job boys.  The boys have another game this coming Monday at home against Eastside before heading into the Thanksgiving Break.  Be sure to come out and support the boys Monday evening.

Which House is Winning This week? BMS  has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation.  Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way.  Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others,  participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

We are so Proud of these students!

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
