The dance will cost $5 per student and is from 3:00-4:30 pm.  Students must be passing all classes and free from Behavior Events to participate.  Pick up from the dance will be exactly like the afternoon car riders procedure.

DOES YOUR STUDENT NEED HELP?

BMS is offering ACADEMIC SUPPORT (after school ESS) this MONDAY.  We will have Academic Support regularly on Monday and Thursday from 3:00-4:30.  Amanda Korby is coordinating the program for us this year.  Please reach out to her at amanda.korby@bullitt.kyschools to request your student be signed up.  We are going to support students with general help  for all classes and will have a MATH Club after school as well.

Please contact us and let us know if you would like your student to be part of the Math Club.  Feel free to call the school at 502-869-4000 if you have any questions regarding Academic Support in general or Math Club.

ATTENDANCE

The flu and a stomach virus seem to be running through BMS.  Please remind your students about simple hand washing, covering their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and please don’t eat or drink after each other.  Attendance the last two weeks has been pretty awful and we have been sending students home with fevers and other symptoms.   We appreciate your help and support. We sure want to keep all the Bruins healthy.

Please contact Jennifer Vittitoe with attendance questions at jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us  or (502)869-4000. Any transportation changes need to be in the front office by 2:30 pm all late transportation notes must be sent to bmsiuser001@bullitt.kyschools.us

You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.

PTSA

Thank you to BMS PTSA and Amanda Mohr for all you do for students, teachers and our parent community!  Please join the BMS PTSA! They are such a huge support to students, staff and the community! Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

8th Grade Parents: Riverview Opportunity Center and the Area Technology Center will be hosting an Open House -see the information below. (Click here for links to the videos.) Ms. Bush will be visiting with students Monday to provide information about the specialized programs. Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Bush with any questions.

FREE TOOLS FOR HOME & HOMEWORK

Do you want a free kit of Flash Cards for home? We are giving families tools to work with students at home.   If you are interested in receiving a free kit of flash cards for math facts and vocabulary for your students please complete the form linked here.  We will be sending those home before Christmas break.  It’s free, it’s easy, it’s fun  and it provides some time to work with your child or for them to quiz themselves on the basic facts.  Form Linked Here!

Everyday we tell students to read for 20 minutes each evening AND practice their math facts every night for 10 minutes.  If students don’t get done with their classwork, it may turn into homework, but generally homework time is saved for practicing those two important skills,

BMS ATHLETICS

The boys’ basketball season is in full swing as the team had three games this past week, and have three more this week…all at home.  Please come out to support the boys as they host Old Kentucky Home on Monday, Hebron on Tuesday, and Mount Washington on Thursday.  Good luck boys.

Which House is Winning This week? BMS  has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation.  Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way.  Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others,  participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

We are so Proud of these students!

Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
