What a fantastic week! We had two guest speakers here this week and our students did such a great job working with them. Mr. Carnes invited Craig Phillips to talk to his health classes around healthy living, avoiding tobacco and vaping and more. Ms. Loudermilk and Ms. Harrod invited the staff from the Parklands to come and help teach students about the effects of human interactions on the environment! Students learned so much from our guest speakers and we are grateful for their time!
HAPPY SCHOOL COUNSELOR/FRYSC WEEK!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER
Please know that students are always able to connect with Ms. Bush for all your counseling needs. Every day we work to create a space for students that is safe and caring. Please encourage your students to be kind. Middle school is really hard for kids, no way to get around it. Self-regulation is a skill that they learn and during these years it is tough. We will continue to work with students on managing their emotions, focusing on what is important and being the good in the world! We appreciate all the support we get from our BMS Community!
FEBRUARY 17 IS WORLD KINDNESS DAY.
The goal is each student works that way on going out of their way to be kind. Start talking with them now, what can they do that might be extra special that week to help support World Kindness Day.
As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

EXTRA CURRICULARS
This past weekend BMS Archery competed at the North Bullitt tournament this weekend and placed first again! They are undefeated on the season! They also had individual boy and girl winners. They will participate in a tournament in Bardstown this weekend.
Volleyball is in full swing and the ladies are hard at work. Due to the poor weather they had just one game at Hebron. This week they will have two games away. Tuesday the team travels to Mt. Washington and Thursday they will be at Eastside. Both night's games start at 5:30. Good luck ladies.
Tryouts for the baseball team will be the week of February 13th. Exact dates and times and places will be announced. Anyone interested in trying out for the team needs to have a signed permission slip, and an updated KHSAA physical.
Please return all permission slips and copies of physicals to Mr. Carnes prior to attending no later than February 14th.
For anyone interested in trying out, there will be a workout after school on Thursday from 3-4:30.
Which House is Winning This week? BMS has a house system that is based on students' year of graduation. Each house can earn points based on areas that are linked to the Bruin Way. Points are earned by the percentage of the house on the honor roll, free from referrals, attendance, school spirit, showing responsibility for yourself and others, participation in community service, random acts of kindness, and more!

ALL STAR STUDENTS OF THE WEEK
Keep Being Amazing Bruin Nation!!!
We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class. The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school. Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected. Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We also have @hentryclaytime on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
