BMS Newsbytes: Aug 14- Aug 18 2023: Check it Out!!!

Dear Bernheim Community,

Thank you for such a great first week with students.  The students have been absolutely wonderful.  Procedures and routines have clicked right back into place and we have seen so many smiles.  This is my 8th year here at BMS and this was one of the best first weeks  ever!  Your students are amazing young people and we have seen so many random acts of kindness, helping each other out, welcoming new friends to the school, making new students feel welcome.  It is so heartwarming to know that our students believe in the mission: Every Student, Every Day.  They are helping to create that legacy of excellence! We are so proud of them.

I am sure students have shared that it is a little loud at BMS right now.  If they haven’t, I want you to know, it is a little loud at BMS.   Construction is happening!! The Construction team is working on putting up some extra insulation to deaden some of the loud noises.  So far the students have worked right on through.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are looking forward to working with our parents this year.  We will have several projects where students will want to have input on a variety of topics from members of the community (that is you).  We hope you will help our students out! There will be more on this throughout the year!

Never hesitate to reach out! We can’t wait to get started with the rest of the year!

FIRST DAY FORMS AND SCHOOL FEES

All forms and fees need to be taken care of before we can distribute lockers. Thank you for your help.  Fees are $35 Chromebook fee to be paid yearly and the $20 School Fee.  Fees may also be at myschoolbucks.com.

TRANSPORTATION

Please keep up with the BCPS Transportation Facebook page (linked) as there has been a great deal of fluidity in the routes.  Bus info changes daily! Make sure you have marked “text” and “email” in IC so you can get notifications.

SAME DAY CHANGES??

YOU MUST call the school no later than  2:30 pm! The cut off time is crucial to help make sure your students are given the information prior to dismissal.  If you need to make a change to transportation during the day, call the school prior to 2:30 pm and then send in a transportation change note to Ms Jennifer Vittitoe jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us You must call in to speak with someone and a written note will be required.

Due to overcrowding on some bus routes students will not be permitted to ride home with friends as a rule.

PTSA

Please join the BMS PTSA! They are such a huge support to students, staff and the community! PTSA will be selling spirit wear soon, so be on the lookout for those flyers and information! Mark Vibbert is the BMS PTSA school president. Reach out to him if you would like to help out! Please reach out to help support the BMS PTSA.

Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

As always please email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us with any questions or counseling needs.

We do our best to keep you informed! BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, favorite this blog and the school website. BMS Class Highlights includes each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information you might need. Individual teacher websites are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your students.
