Dear Bernheim Community,
Thank you for such a great first week with students. We want to give a huge shout out to Bullitt County Public Schools, Calhoun Construction and Studio Kremer Architects for designing, envisioning and creating the beautiful new learning spaces for Bernheim Middle School. We are still under construction, but we can see the end product coming together. Thank you to the Bernheim Community for being patient as we progressed through the process, when you see the space for students you know it was worth it!
The students have been absolutely wonderful! They strive every day to create that legacy of excellence! We are so proud of them. This year we have incorporated a new Career Lab/Life Skills class that students will participate in. They will learn about a variety of careers with hands-on activities. Culinary, Veterinary Science, Electrics and more! Students are excited!
Students are loving the new learning spaces and we are thrilled they have them! Tuesday from 5:00-6:30 we will have Back To School Night. This is a simple Meet and Greet, drop off paperwork, pay fees etc.
Never hesitate to reach out! We can’t wait to get started with the rest of the year!
BEGINNING OF THE YEAR FORMS AND FEES
On Monday, August 12th, your student will bring home important beginning-of-the-year forms. There are six forms in total:
Three forms need to be signed and returned to the school.
Three forms contain instructions for tasks you need to complete online, which you should keep.
This year, lockers have already been assigned, and Chromebooks will be distributed on Monday. To ensure your student has continued access to the internet at school and that their Chromebook functions properly, all forms and fees must be submitted.
Fees
Chromebook/TECH Fee: $35
School Fee: $20 (for consumables in arts, science, career, and general classes)
You can pay these fees at the Back-to-School Night (BTSN), online at Bullitt Schools Cash Online, or send them with your student to be given to their advisory teacher. Our bookkeeper will collect fees daily from classrooms.
DUE DATE
All forms and fees are due by August 16th.
If you need assistance, please contact Marth Link at martha.link@bullitt.kyschools.us
TRANSPORTATION
On July 11th the district emailed an invitation to all parents for STOPFINDER. Please make sure you have accepted that invitation and have logged into the app.
Please remind students that bus privileges may be revoked if they are not following the Bruin Way on the bus. They must be respectful, be safe, be kind and follow the instructions of the adults on the bus.
SAME DAY TRANSPORTATION CHANGES??
To ensure that your student's transportation arrangements are handled smoothly, you must call the school by 2:30 pm. This deadline is crucial to make sure your student receives the updated information before dismissal. If you need to change your student's transportation during the day:
Call the school before 2:30 pm.
Send a transportation change note to Ms. Jennifer Vittitoe at jennifer.vittitoe@bullitt.kyschools.us.
It's essential to both speak with someone at the school and provide a written note.
Please note: Due to overcrowding on some bus routes, students are generally not allowed to ride home with friends.
PTSA
Please join the BMS PTSA! They are such a huge support to students, staff and the community! PTSA will be selling spirit wear soon, so be on the lookout for those flyers and information! Mark Vibbert is the BMS PTSA school president. Reach out to him if you would like to help out! Please reach out to help support the BMS PTSA.
Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.
SBDM special parent elections are coming soon.
COUNSELOR’S CORNER
The Students' Advisory period is a vital part of our daily routine at BMS. During this time, we connect with each student and encourage them to build connections with their peers. Our goal is for every student to know that they have a caring adult here at BMS, and to understand that they can rely on each other as well. Embracing the Bruin Way is not just a motto—it's a way of life!
Throughout this period, students will engage in College and Career studies and Character Education, working towards the BCPS Graduate Profile competencies. We are dedicated to helping all students grow in every aspect of their lives, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.
If you have any questions or need counseling support, please feel free to email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us.
