10/28/24. BMS Newsbytes: Check it Out

Dear Bernheim Community,

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Title 1 Community Contributor Carnival night. We had over 450 people here and raised nearly $1000 for the community. We are so proud of our students and staffulty for diving into our Graduate Profile Competencies with all students.  We are confident that Bernheim Middle School students are going to be the leaders of our future.  We are so proud of all they have accomplished.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is an exciting opportunity for BMS students to promote drug prevention and healthy choices through fun activities and themed dress-up days! Each day, students can express their commitment to living drug-free by wearing creative outfits that align with the themes. From "Superhero Day" to "Dynamic Duo or Group Day" and "Disney Day," Spirit Week encourages school spirit, teamwork, and awareness. Let’s show our support for a healthy, drug-free lifestyle while having a blast with friends!

PTSA

The PTSA is looking forward to having more parents join the team! Please reach out to Mark Vibbet for more information at mavibbert1@gmail.com .  We appreciate our parents very much and would love to have more parent involvement in the PTSA.

We will be having elections for officers very soon.

Contact the PTSA president, Mark Vibbert, to help out! mavibbert1@gmail.com

Please contact Stephanie Dillman at (502) 869-4000 for any questions about volunteering at BMS.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Red Ribbon Week is an essential initiative for our middle school students, as it fosters awareness about the dangers of drug use and encourages healthy lifestyle choices. This annual event not only promotes a drug-free message but also helps students build resilience, make informed decisions, and support one another in their choices. By participating in activities and discussions throughout the week, students learn the importance of standing up against substance abuse while strengthening their sense of community and peer support. Together, we can create a safe and healthy environment for all our students! See the Parent Corner for resources for supporting your student.

Parent Corner

Did you know: Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t; yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.

This year’s theme is Life Is A Movie, Film Drug Free.™ Visit www.redribbon.org to learn more about Red Ribbon Week® and get tips for talking to your kids about drugs. The life you save may be that of your own child or a dear friend.

They’ll be competing at regionals in two weeks, but you can catch them in action on Tuesday night as they cheer on the boys’ basketball team at their home opener.

Girls’ Basketball: The girls’ basketball team wrapped up their season this week in the county tournament. Though the results didn’t go their way, the growth and progress they’ve shown has made Coach Dillman and the entire coaching staff incredibly proud. Well done, ladies!
