April 28: BMS Newsbytes: News, Updates and Celebrations!

Dear Bernheim Community,

Our Bears stepped up to the plate—literally—at Louisville Slugger Field! They had a blast, and our staffulty couldn’t have been prouder of how they represented us.

Meanwhile, our Grizzlies were busy bringing history to life! They traveled to the Bowman Valley Museum and Bullitt Central High School, where they wowed others with their talents and deep insight into the past and shared stories of resilience from across generations.

Way to go, Bruins!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER

Students are currently finalizing their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) using a platform called SchooLinks. Throughout the year in Advisory, they’ve completed a variety of activities and assessments that explore their interests, learning styles, and potential post-secondary goals—whether that be the workforce, college, or trade school.

In middle school, students are still discovering who they are and what they’re passionate about, so it’s normal for these plans to change from year to year as their interests develop. That’s why students will revisit and update their ILP annually. In high school, they’ll begin to refine their plans with more focus and intention as they prepare for life after graduation.

Once your student publishes their ILP, you’ll receive a copy via email to review and sign. Your support helps us guide students in making meaningful and informed decisions about their futures.

Thank you for partnering with us in this important process!

If you have any questions or need counseling support, please feel free to email amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools.us.

🎯 Archery

After a busy and successful season, things are settling down for our archery team as they shift their focus to Nationals in May. The team is staying sharp with weekly practices—Tuesdays at Cedar Grove Elementary and Wednesdays at Bernheim—gearing up to represent us well on the national stage.

⚾ Baseball
The Bruins fought hard against a tough Mt. Washington team last week but came up just short. This Tuesday marks the final regular season game as they face Mt. Washington again in a rainout rematch. Join us at the Mt. Washington Sports Complex at 6:00 PM to cheer them on one last time before tournament play begins! The Bruins open the postseason Thursday night at 7:45 PM, also at the Mt. Washington Sports Complex. Their opponent is yet to be determined—come out and support our team as they chase a strong finish!

⚽ Boys’ Soccer
The boys’ soccer team is gearing up for another action-packed week! They'll host Spencer County on Tuesday before traveling to face Thomas Nelson on Thursday—both matches kick off at 6:00 PM. The team is determined to grab their first win, and your support could be the difference. Let’s fill the stands and fuel their fight!

⚽ Girls’ Soccer
It’s a big week ahead for the girls’ soccer team as well! On Monday, they’ll travel to Spencer County, and on Wednesday, they'll host Thomas Nelson—both games start at 6:00 PM. With every match, this group continues to grow in confidence and skill. Best of luck, ladies—keep pushing forward!

🥎 Softball
After a whirlwind of games last week, the softball team gets a bit of a breather with just one matchup on the schedule. They’ll take the field on Monday at 7:45 PM against Eastside at the Mt. Washington Sports Complex. The girls have shown tremendous growth and determination—let’s keep that momentum going!

🏃‍♂️ Track & Field
Our track and field athletes are off to a fantastic start with two meets under their belt! At last Saturday’s North Bullitt meet, Rosalyn Marcum placed 5th in the 400m and 9th in the 800m, Brayden Murphy earned 7th in both the 1600m and 800m, and Teandrea Newson-Milam took 9th in the 100m and 10th in the 200m.  At Wednesday’s Larue County meet, Brayden came back strong with a 5th-place finish in the 800m and 6th in the 1600m. Jadyn Hartlage also stepped up with an 8th-place finish in the 800m. Teandrea continued to impress, placing 5th in both the 100m and 200m among 6th graders. Way to go, team—your hard work is paying off!
