4/17/17-4/21/17

Dear BMS Community,

Staff and students alike continue to work hard and engage in teaching and learning at high levels. Students have been debating the use of Genetically Modified Organisms in 8th grade science class, studying how the Earth provides evidence for scientific claims in 6th grade science class, and using text resources as evidence to support their claims in 7th grade Language Arts.  This nine weeks we have been able to offer introductory courses in French, German and Spanish and students in those classes are enjoying the challenge and are doing a great job.  Thank you Ms. Elliot for making that a reality. BMS students are continuing MAP testing this week and will be done by Friday.  Ask your student how they are doing, so many students have made large gains this year in multiple areas and they are excited and proud of their achievements!

Parents are extremely important to the success of BMS students.  Our PTSA will be holding  SBDM elections the first week of May and are seeking parent nominations.  If you know someone who would be interested or if you would be willing to serve please complete the attached SBDM nomination form and return it to the front office  no later than 4/28/17 by 3:00 pm.

We will be having our last Bruin Bash  of the year on 4/28- please keep up with your student's grades through Infinite Campus and make sure students are passing all classes.  We have academic support and ESS for students who are struggling please check students grades and contact teachers if you have any concerns. Students must have all attendance notes into Ms. Veach  and students should be free of any major behavior issues for April. We would like as many students as possible to participate in the last Bruin Bash of the 2016-2017 school year.  Thank you for your support in this effort.

Grade Level Newsletters:
Please be sure to read and check each grade level Newsletter as the year winds down there will be a great deal of team specific information available to you.  If you have questions please contact your student's teachers, they are always more than happy to help.
