10/29-11/02 Info, Updates and Celebrations

Dear BMS Community,

Bernheim Middle School would like to thank all of our parents, students, teachers and staff who have supported the work we do to increase academic achievement for students! We couldn't be more proud of how the BMS community supports student learning and the move toward excellence. We have so many exciting things going on at here BMS! Students are engaged in high level conversation around the classics, diving into primary sources around the Revolutionary War, working their way through the Pythagorean theorem and actively building community in their classrooms.  BMS teachers and students are constantly engaged in excellent teaching and learning.

Students in the Bears House (7th) went to Stage One to see Frankenstein Friday  and we were so proud of them.  One usher stated they were the best behaved students he'd seen in years.  The students learned a great deal about analogy and looking for central ideas in literary works.  The Grizzlies House (8th) went on the Junior Achievement Inspire field trip on Tuesday and had the opportunity to engage with several community leaders and business partners.  They had the chance to see how the business community searches for employees and what the essential skills are that are required to be a successful candidate for employment.

This week we celebrated Red Ribbon Week as well as enjoyed Fall Festival Celebrations.  We would like to thank Ms. Tiffany Jenkins (YSC), Ms. Destiney Amiott and the Student Council students for helping to facilitate the event! Students and teachers alike took part in spirit days, door decorating contests, pumpkin decorating and our Kindness Rocks initiative led by the PTSA.

Congratulations to Mr. Anderson's homeroom for winning the door decorating contest.   Students participated in the Kindness Rocks campaign.  The top rocks have been chosen, but they were all wonderful and it is tough to pick just one.  The pumpkin decorating contest turned out so well we were all amazed by the creativity of all the participants! Thank you to everyone for participating and creating a festive and creative environment here at BMS.
