November 7- November 9, Student Celebrations, Information and upcoming events.

Dear BMS Community,
BMS has so many great things going on! We would like to thank our PTSA members for supporting us by organizing the Fall Festival and the BMS book fair as well as for sponsoring our first ever Grandparent Lunch.  Those are all monumental tasks and we appreciate how hard they have been working to make it all happen.  Parent support is so important to student academic success and we are so grateful for the wonderful support from BMS parents.

Students and teachers have been GAME ON, all week long as they have worked through many challenging learning activities.  Students in math class are learning how to truly explain mathematical processes.  In 6th grade Ms. Tepe's group presented their final product to local businessman Daniel Marin, the owner of Cedar Grove Coffee House.  Students presented their ideas for a special coffee to Mr. Marin along with the price break down of how much their product would cost to produce.  The real world math that goes into one cup of coffee was simply astounding to BMS middle school students! Thank you Ms. Tepe and Mr. Marin for partnering to create this outstanding learning opportunity for students.

This Friday BMS students will participate in the honoring of the Nation's Veterans.  We are asking that If you would like to honor a veteran in your family to please send a picture to Ms. April Watkins via email at april.watkins3@bullitt.kyschools.us . Include your student’s name, name of individual you are honoring, the branch of the armed forces they served in, how many years they served, rank, distinguished medals, deployment or tour of duty and if they are currently serving or retired. If you don't have all of that information that is fine, just send us what you do have. We have a fast turn around and are asking you to get her those pictures by Wednesday evening.(November 7th by 9:00 pm) Again please send all photos via email to april.watkins3@bullitt.kyschools.us.

We are so grateful for those who serve and protect our rights as American citizens.

Thank you to all of the Grandparents who came to have lunch with your grandchildren! That was the first time we did this at BMS and it was heartwarming to see all the love! Thank you for taking time out of your day and spending it here! Here are just a few snapshots from the day!

Attendance Matters:
Be Here! Show Up! It matters! Here in Bruin Nation we are instilling in students the importance of having excellent work ethic.  Part of having excellent work ethic is showing up to "work".   Attendance has been hit and miss in Bruin Nation lately.  We know there has been a bug going around so with that, please remind students to wash hands, cough into their sleeve, never eat or drink after one another and get a good night's rest.  Remind students attendance impacts school rewards such as Bruin Bash, Renaissance Rallies, Game Day and end of the year Awards.  The biggest reward is their link to their own success.  Students who aren't at school fall behind and spend days catching up.  Help us, help them by making sure they are here! Thank you for all you do for BMS and your student!
