Dear BMS Community,
Thank you for a great week in Bruin Nation. BMS welcomed the Kentucky Commissioner of Education Dr. Wayne Lewis, as well as the Chairman and Vice-Chair of the Kentucky Board of Education to BMS. Students and staff extremely impressed policy makers for the Commonwealth and we are so proud of the great work students and teachers are doing!
BMS students are working hard in class on great projects and working through important ideas. They are learning about the Holocaust in the 8th grade, Civil Rights in the 7th grade and have studied the extreme difference of life here in the USA verses how children in small countries in Africa live. They have learned to be grateful for the wonderful opportunities they have and are using advanced literacy skills to make sense of the world around them.
MAP testing is coming up this week and each student has set their personal goals for success. MAP scores are important to each student as the data is used in making decisions for schedules and placement. Please encourage students to continually do their best. Please make every effort to have your students at school each day.

Attendance Matters:
Be Here! Show Up! It matters! Here in Bruin Nation we are instilling in students the importance of having excellent work ethic. Part of having excellent work ethic is showing up to "work".
Stay safe from the flu! Cover your mouth or nose when you cough or sneeze, wash your hands frequently, use hand sanitizer, drink plenty of fluids, get plenty of rest, don't share food or drink.
