April 20-April 24: Information and Celebrations

Dear Bernheim Community,

We hope you all are well and we want to take a minute to SHOUT YOU OUT! We are so proud of the Bernheim School Community. BMS families have been Rock Stars!  So many of you are essential workers, you are working from home while keeping up with your children's schooling and all of their needs.  You have been truly amazing and we want to shout you out! Please send pictures to karla.elliott@bullitt.kyschools.us so we can shout you out on our social media! We want to fill up the internet with the wonderful things you all are doing during this time. Keep up the great work!

We know there are many unknowns out there right now and we wish we had all the answers.  For some questions, such as "what to do with library books?" we will have a tote out front for anyone who wishes to drop those off.  That was an easy question, other questions are harder to answer right now so we simply have to wait until more details are released about our state of emergency operations.  Thank you for being wonderfully flexible and understanding throughout this entire process.

UPDATE: As you are aware Gov. Beshear has stated that schools will be on NTI days for the rest of the school year. I am sure there will be more updates in the next few days. We know there will be many questions and we will do our best to meet the  needs of students over the next few weeks.  As for 8th grade celebrations and award ceremony, yearbook distribution and locker cleanout which usually occur at the end of the year, we are working on ways to create safe and healthy plans to accomplish these activities.  Stay Tuned

Yearbooks:
We are opening up Yearbooks sales again.  We are still working out yearbook distribution, hopefully we will have a plan soon.  Yearbook Order Link Here

Attendance and Honor Roll in NTI world.
This week's NTI Attendance is:
94% for Cubs
97% for Bears
93% for Grizzlies
95% Total for BMS

Honor Roll percentage by HOUSE:
CUBS= 48% OF 6th GRADE STUDENTS HAVE A's and B's
BEARS= 38% OF 7th GRADE  STUDENTS HAVE A's and B's
GRIZZLIES= 55% OF 8th GRADE STUDENTS HAVE A's and B's

Keep On Shining
We are having spirit days even still! Friday was PJ Day and we had several entries! We love seeing the students participate, as well as their parents and staff too! Keep being amazing!

We are still encouraging students to paint Kindness Rocks.  They can paint as many as they would like, the more the better!  We are also encouraging creativity of any sort! Please take pictures of you, and your families being creative in any way! We have started "for real" cooking at our house, meaning we have read a few recipes and actually cooked as opposed to thawing out!   Anything you all are doing we would love to see!  Please send those pictures to Ms. Elliot.  (karla.elliott@bullitt.kyschools.us)

Resources
Keep in mind there are so many resources out there for our families.  BCPS Food service will be delivering weekly meal bulk packs on TUESDAYS.  Please take advantage of that for your families and check out www.bcpsmeals4me.com .  If you or someone you know needs assistance over the break please let us know.  Please contact Ms. Tiffany Jenkins the BMS FRYSC Coordinator.  tiffany.jenkins@bullitt.kyschools.us

Online Registration-Opens After Spring Break
Please follow the attached link to get to the information regarding Online Registration.
We can't wait until the Bruins are back
in the Bruin Nation House!

The goal is to make the start of the year paperwork a little less overwhelming for families.  ALL students, returning and new to the district students, must complete the online process. BCPS school district website has more information.  This is new for all of us but in the end, once everyone gets acquainted with the process it will be much easier for families.  Please feel free to reach out to Stephanie Dillman and Sandy Veatch for assistance with this process. They can be reached at stephanie.dillman@bullitt.kyschools.us and sandy.veatch@bullitt.kyschools.us respectively.  Our office staff will be more than happy to help with this process please let them know how they may be of assistance.

Survey
Thank you to those of you who responded to Dr. Bacons survey he sent out last week.  Linked below you will see the questions and the overall feedback.  We are analyzing the data and will continue to improve our processes to best serve our school community.  Thank you again for taking the time to complete the survey.

BMS Parents!
Stay Connected:
BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, please favorite this blog and check it frequently. BMS Class Highlights contains each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher websites which are extremely useful to both students and parents.

Please don't hesitate to communicate with your student's teachers. The best way to get in touch with them right now is through their school email.  All emails are listed on the school website.  Each student has access to phone numbers for their teachers in the google classroom, please feel free to check in with teachers as they are happy to hear from you and want to help any way they can.

It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.

Please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We also have @hentryclaytime on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.

In an effort to keep everyone healthy we ask that you enjoy your spring break while staying #HealthyatHome.

We miss you and we hope to see you soon!
