September 21- September 25: News, Updates and Student Celebrations

Dear Bernheim Community,

We are so proud of how hard Bruin Nation worked this week.  There are still a few students who will need to complete their CASE assessment but most are done.  Results will be shared in a couple of weeks when CASE sends the data to schools.  Math and ELA teachers will be sharing that information with students.

Student's Midterms will be available through Infinite Campus on Thursday September 24th.  Some students have done outstanding work, others have several missing assignments.  Please keep up with IC as it is a great tool to stay connected to your student's progress.

We know everyone is on the countdown to IN PERSON School and so are we! Cubs (6th grade) come back in person on October 5th, Bears and Grizzlies come back on October 20th. Dr. Bacon will be sharing more information on September 22 at 6:30 pm, keep following BCPS on Facebook and keep up with their website for all the latest updates.

As we get closer to the start of In Person Learning, please keep reminding your student of the importance of wearing their Masks.  The latest expectations for schools came out in August and state we will be wearing masks all day except for eating breakfast and lunch.  We are happy to mask up and do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe and school live and In Person! We can't wait to see Bruin Nation Students!
BMS Staffulty is "fit to be Tie Dyed with EXCITEMENT"!
We can't wait to see everyone in person soon!
What is happening in class this week? Please click on BMS Class Highlights as teachers are updating this weekly, along with their websites and lesson plans to support families! This is a fantastic resource for families!

Counselor Corner
Please see The Middle Years Newsletter attached at the top of this site.  There are many things that are unique to middle schools students and this publication provides help and support for parents as we wander through the wonder years!  Check it out and let us know what you think about it! Please email Ms. Amy Bush at amy.bush@bullitt.kyschools for all your counseling needs.
Mental Health Awareness is extremely important in the best of times, the world we live in right now is a little scary sometimes and we know we need to pay close attention to children's mental health.  On September 24, 2020 during BMS Advisory BCPS will be showing a mental health awareness video and administering a mental health questionnaire to students.  If you would rather your student be excluded from that video please fill out the form linked here.  Ms. Bush our school counselor will make your child's advisory teacher aware of your decision, and your child will be exempt from advisory on that date.   The goal is to let students know there is help available if they need it and they are not alone in their feelings.  Please contact Ms. Amy Bush with questions or concerns.

Title 1 School Information
BMS is a Title 1 school.  This means we receive a grant to support students in a variety ways. BMS provides extra support in both reading and math through the support of staff who help students in small groups for Math and Reading.  We work to support students needs in all ways. Another benefit of being a Title 1 school is being able to provide lunch and breakfast for all students at no cost to you.  You should have received, by good old fashioned mail this week, a form regarding this program. Please take a minute to complete the forms and send them back to BMS.

Below is the Title 1 Parent Involvement commitment.  We truly appreciate all support and input.

Please fill out the attached form, there are just a few questions, all feedback is appreciated. If you prefer not to answer the questions please just enter your student's name verifying your receipt of this document.

As always we are always happy to help in any way we can. There are so many ways to keep up with what is going on at BMS.  BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, please favorite this website. BMS Class Highlights is each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher websites (also linked above) which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your student.
