September 28-October 2: News, Celebrations and Updates!

 Dear Bernheim Community,

As we get closer to in person learning we are getting more and more excited.  We know things will be different, but we are happy to make it all work just so we can have the students in the building!  Your student's health is our number one concern and we are taking all the precautions we can to keep everyone healthy at school.  We are going to need help in the way of emphasizing the importance of wearing masks.  They will be on all day, every day excluding eating and outdoor socially distanced mask breaks that will happen from time to time.  There are many things that will be adjusted including things like the Morning Car Rider line.  Please review our new morning Car Rider Procedures as we will need to have two lines in the morning and staff will be outside taking temperature and directing traffic. Students will need to stay in their car until their temperature has been taken.  We will begin that process at 7:40 am. There are many other Healthy @ BMS guidelines and procedures described in the document linked above in the banner.  Please review them with your student.

PLEASE SEE OUR SHORT VIDEOS WITH NEW INFORMATION:

WE ARE SO EXCITED!!
Staffulty are so excited, they are getting everything ready from lunches,  BMS Art, Bulletin Boards, classrooms and more! Ms. Elliott even earned a grant to purchase more reading for Bernheim!  Only a few more days till the Cubs are here!

SEVERAL students have asked about the supply list for Back to In Person School.  The list is below, we kept it a small as possible since students won't have lockers or large backpacks. If you have any questions please contact your students advisory teacher or anyone in the front office.

CHECK MIDTERMS:
Student's Midterms are available through Infinite Campus as of Thursday September 24th.  Some students have done outstanding work, others have several missing assignments. Students who have not completed their work or attempted to stay up to date may be on a "recovery plan" upon return.  Please encourage your students to complete all assignments.  Please keep up with IC as it is a great tool to stay connected to your student's progress.

BACK TO  IN PERSON LEARNING:
We know everyone is on the countdown to IN PERSON School and so are we! Cubs (6th grade) come back in person on October 5th, Bears and Grizzlies come back on October 20th. Please see our Healthy
@ BMS School Plan for details.  Keep up with us on Facebook and right here on BMS News Bytes.

What is happening in class this week? Please click on BMS Class Highlights as teachers are updating this weekly, along with their websites and lesson plans to support families! This is a fantastic resource for families!
Athletics:
As we are beginning to get back to the things our students love, like sports, please help us keep everything up and going.  We know things aren't ideal but our goal is to allow our students to stay safe and continue to play.  With that we ask that you adhere to the BCPS, KHSAA guidelines for safe sporting events in a Covid-19 world as outlined below.   We appreciate your support and help in this matter.
Athletics and Spectators
  1. All Healthy @ School, KHSAA, KDE, BC Health Dept guidelines must be followed at all times.

  2. Each athlete is only allowed two passes for spectators, (no matter the age) to attend games. This is due to capacity of gymnasiums, which is limited to a small percentage. Passes are $25 each and are being sold by coaches to athletes. The passes only work for BCPS games that your athlete must attend. All spectators must wear masks at all times unless actively eating or drinking, no exemptions allowed. Temperatures will be taken at the door.  Bleachers are marked for social distancing for your ease of reference.

As always we are always happy to help in anyway we can. There are so many ways to keep up with what is going on at BMS.  BMS News Bytes is our weekly newsletter, please favorite this website. BMS Class Highlights is each teacher's snapshot about what's going on in class.  The school website has all forms, information, calendar updates and district information along with links to individual teacher websites (also linked above) which are extremely useful to both students and parents. It is important that you log into Parent Portal and choose the option to receive email and texts from the school.  Not only can you view your students grades, attendance and other information it is also a great communication tool to keep you connected.  Lastly, please follow us on social media including Facebook, Twitter and Remind. We also have @hentryclaytime  on Instagram to keep up with the antics of our school therapy dog. As you can see we want to make every effort to stay connected with families.
Thank you again for providing us the opportunity to serve you and your student.
