March 1-March 5: Celebrations, News and Information!

 Dear Bernheim Community,

Congratulations to Brea Breeze for being named the BCPS Middle School Teacher of the Year.  She is the second BCPS Teacher of the year from BMS.  Ms. Karla Elliott was also the BCPS Teacher of the Year last year! Way to go Bruins!

We have had a great week with students and can't wait to be able to have even more time with them.  This week there has been much to celebrate! Seventh Grade Boys Basketball Championship, National History Day winners and BMS having the district Teacher of the Year for the second year in a row!  Things are looking better and better as we approach the one year mark since the pandemic really impacted us.  There is light at the end of the tunnel and we can see the end is in sight, at least partially.

Speaking of the end of things, this week MIDTERMS went home and were released through Infinite Campus(IC).  Please check on IC to see your student's midterm grades. Awesome and Brilliant students (A/B Day) yours are also available on IC,  however students did receive hard copies to give to parents as well.  CHECK those midterms, as we get closer to the end of the year we are making plans for summer school and retention interventions.  We are also making plans for the fun end of the year celebrations and students need to be in good standing to participate.  Please check their grades.

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE FOR BCPS HYBRID LEARNERS

Teachers are available as per their Help Desk Times!

Supporting Students

At BMS students have  access to Academic Success (ESS), Wonderful Wednesday Groups, and Recovery Programs, as well as the specific interventions  each teacher has in place to support students. The goal is that each and every student is able to make academic gains this year and move on to the next grade level with their class.  Please check Infinite Campus to see the progress of your student.  If they are failing please reach out to their teachers so an intervention plan can be made or adjusted.  In most cases , if a student is failing, students are simply not completing learning tasks even with multiple prompts, and direct help and support from their teachers. We know this is a challenging time and we want to support students and families in any way we can.  The goal is for each and every student to be successful! Please let us know how we can help.

Bullitt Cloud Academy

BCA, We have hired Heather Davis and she will be helping us as the Recovery Coach for BCA.  Her group of students must be online from 2:15-3:00 pm on their assigned day with her.  This is yet another intervention to help students who are struggling.  Please make sure if your student is in her group that they are on their zoom classes regularly, as is listed on the main schedule below,  and they are on her zoom intervention class which will be 2:15-3:00.  This is critical to their ability to succeed this year.

It is important for ALL BCA students to attend each zoom lesson and  complete all learning tasks in google classroom.  BCA teachers are available and want to connect with you and your student.   BCA students also have ESS, Wonderful Wednesday, and will be working with a Recovery Coach.  BCA teachers are willing to provide students any and all opportunity to be successful.  The school day is from 8:00am -3:00pm every day.  Please have your student up and on their Zoom classes.

BMS did a wonderful job showing kindness in so many ways over the last two weeks.  We had several people receive gifts and they paid them forward.  Just because the official "RAK" week or day has passed doesn't mean we can forget about it.  Being Bold in Kindness is part of the Bruin Way. Please encourage your student to make kindness normal everyday!  #BeBoldBruins
